Sorry for the delay, team.
We have had a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes, and instead of pulling the trigger on “content” that may be sub-par, we buckled down to put our ducks in a row to ensure we keep our promise to deliver high-quality industry info.
And now we have a newsletter for you that will provide some sneaky-peak clarity on some of the projects and concepts being incubated in the crypto space.
First off, the roadmap for this edition:
1. Current events; Blockchain Trilemma
2. Introducing IMX
3. Spotlight on Gods Unchained
Current Events
Blockchain Trilemma is more than just a great name. It describes a project's limited ability to achieve optimal decentralization, security, and scalability without inherent compromise.
While many projects set out with adamant command of their security and decentralization strategies, things tend to get iffy when it comes to scaling.
Luckily, some of the best and brightest minds in the space are working diligently on solutions. Yet the main problem comes with the differentiation of Layer 1 and Layer 2 infrastructure. Let us explain with a goofy metaphor.
Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is consistently one of the busiest international flight routes, with just under 2.5 million seats sold last year. People that fly from KL to Singapore want to get there as quickly and comfortably as possible and for the best value.
The flight route is considered Layer 1 and requires basic infrastructure (planes, runways, employees). However, as this flight route gets busier and busier, the Layer 1 infrastructure can only support so much volume. Time to introduce Layer 2.
Layer 2 infrastructure aims to optimize passengers wanting to go from KL to Singapore by air. These initiatives develop creative solutions to prevent long lineups, security checks, airline food quality, and high-quality travel services.
In the blockchain sphere, big Layer 1s like Bitcoin and Ethereum need Layer 2s to help them to scale safely and securely.
This lets us segway perfectly into our next topic for the week; a formidable Layer 2 project called IMX.
IMX; A Robust Layer 2 Solution
Immutable X is a scaling solution explicitly designed to ensure a high level of security on the Ethereum network while combating high gas fees and low transaction speeds caused by heavy usage.
Unlike other Layer 2 solutions, IMX used zk-rollups and Validium to maintain security while increasing speeds by storing data off-chain. While gas fees are still required to move onto the IMX platform using Ethereum, peer-to-peer transactions are free and fast.
The IMX solution has proven itself in both the NFT and Defi space and is now quickly being adopted as a mainstream solution for similar problems of speed and fees in the crypto gaming sphere.
Immutable X continues to develop partnerships with some of the most reputable companies in the space while also maintaining a course to evolve alongside ETH and other Layer 1 structures that may provide more future value.
Long story short, IMX is in some ways leading the Layer 2 push and could provide real-time solutions to many of the current hindrances of Layer 1 scalability.
Game Spotlight: Gods Unchained
We are just full of great transitions today. This next one is even more fluid, with our game spotlight this week tackling Gods Unchained, a highly-rated game that incorporates the IMX protocol.
GODS follows in the footsteps of two notable collectible card games, Magic: the Gathering (MTG) and Hearthstone. It’s a game that allows unique combinations that result in witty and strategic gameplay. Unlike other play-to-earn games, GODS uses combinatorial mathematics to ensure competitive gameplay devoid of luck. The game is beginner-friendly, provides ample opportunity for newbies to learn, and earns in-game tokens to facilitate learning.
With almost infinite room for evolution (new cards can continuously be minted), GODS will likely be around for a while. It has already managed to attract the hard-to-please fanbases of the previously mentioned collectible games, a feat that speaks to the quality of the gameplay.
With a game that requires so many on-platform transactions, it’s also a testament that it uses the IMX protocol as its airport security fast-track.
That’s all for this week. We hope this gives you ample food for thought.
Stay tuned for more in-depth analysis of the newest crypto games, projects, and solutions.
Sincerely,
The Gamelabs Crew
